Bertrand Mariaux is the founder of the first law firm dedicated to social entrepreneurship and impact finance law in Luxembourg. Bertrand Mariaux Avocats, a boutique law firm, works with asset management structures (social impact investment funds), the social and solidarity economy (public and private sector) and social enterprises.
Bertrand previously worked with top-tier international UK-based law firms, and also managed all legal affairs within the Financial Risk Unit at the European Investment Bank.
A registered lawyer with the Luxembourg and Paris law societies, Bertrand has an LLM (hons), is a Certified Expert in International Microfinance (Frankfurt School of Finance) and has studied social entrepreneurship and impact investing at the University of Oxford and the Wharton School.
Among other impact investing ventures, Bertrand has contributed to various projects overseas, including helping scale up the microfinance operations of a women’s rights NGO in Uganda and working with a project in the Bolgatanga region of Ghana.
